Kidzworld Review of Mechwarrior: Dark Age

Kidzworld Review of Mechwarrior: Dark Age

Kidz World has given a really glowing review to Mechwarrior: Dark Age. Five “up” joysticks is a pretty positive assessment, after all.

The kid-friendly aspect of Mechwarrior is actually one of the things I love about it. Mechwarrior is complex and nuanced enough for adults to enjoy, but the mechanics are simple enough for children to grasp them. My kidz also reviewed Mechwarrior: Dark Age, and have absolutely loved it. The whole reason I got into selling Mechwarrior figures was so that we could expand our own collection. (The only way to sell my wife on buying new cases of Mechwarrior was to make it self-sustaining!) The kiddos and I play Mechwarrior all the time, and love it. The tactics and variety of miniatures involved ensure that it never gets boring. . .

Here’s some of that uber-cheery review of Mechwarrior from Kidzworld:

“ In the world of BattleTech it's the 32nd century and battles are decided with giant robots called BattleMechs. MechWarrior: Dark Age lets you control these giant robot warriors in battles to control the universe. You can collect your own MechWarrior: Dark Age BattleMechs and battle against your friends and other peeps, at home or in tournaments, to see who's the master of strategy combat.

What makes MechWarrior: Dark Age so cool is the totally sweet miniature BattleMech figures. . . MechWarrior: Dark Age is easy to learn and fast to play. If you know how to play Mage Knight, you're all set. Each figure is worth points - the stronger it is, the more points its worth. Each player chooses the same number of points of troops, you roll to see who moves first, then start moving your troops around and clobberin' each other!

MechWarrior: Dark Age mixes sweet action figures with a cool, easy to learn strategy combat game and makes it kick butt. You can even compete in tournaments to win prizes and fame. The only bummer about MechWarrior: Dark Age is that it can cost $$$ to buy a lot of figs to play with. You can check it out at game and hobby stores near you, or online at www.wizkidsgames.com/

Is The Game Hard To Learn?

It takes about 20 minutes to learn the basic rules. . .

Age Rating: Everyone.

Thumbs Up:

• Wicked BattleMech figures.

• Simple rules so anyone can play.

• Combat dials keep track of all your troops.

• Tons of tournaments to enter and win! ”
