My best friend in school was a guy named Brian Lilja. He looked like a young version of Goose from Top Gun. Which was convenient, because all he thought about morning to night was flying. After we grew up, we'd go on $100 rib-runs down to Fort Myers in a rented Cessna. He flies for Delta these days.
We spent countless hours pouring over the few old aircraft books the school library held. One of our heroes was Randy 'Duke' Cunningham, the first ace in Vietnam. Duke went on to be one of my favorite congressmen.
Until today. He pled guilty to bribery charges today. Bleh. I haven't been this disappointed in anyone since Mike Warnke. Of course, even back then I should have seen that one coming.
Wow! Where have I been? Mike Warnke was BIG in my evangelical crowd in college. I can't believe I never heard about the scandal.
Posted by: TK at novembre 29, 2005 09:37 AMYeah, it was a bummer. My dad was a baby believer at the time and really admired Warnke. It was quite a shock to him... I've always hated Warnke for that.
