After the tsunami, I went after talk-radio 'conservative' Michael Savage for some of his remarks. Now that I'm back in the States, I've actually had the chance to hear him on the radio.
What an oaf.
He makes sweeping assertions and then backs them up only with invective. While some of what he says about borders, language and culture is good, his presentation is so facile as to discredit those of us who actually care about those things. If anyone calls up with a solid countervailing point, he goes off on a rant and disconnects them. He's the white, middle aged equivalent of Gangsta Rap. He deliberately cultivates this thug persona. If he was serious about preserving our culture, he might try demonstrating some himself.
Al Franken tries the same thing from the Left, but between the whining and his prissy little mouth, his machismo is less Snoop Dogg and more Village People.

When I first heard Savage, it was in college in that Klu Klux Klan bastion better known as Dade County (or the Independent State of Dade, if you prefer), GA, and for the longest time I wrote him off as just some guy spewing KKK invective and that it was part and parcel of what you'll find on the radio in a Klan stronghold. When I figured out that he was national and that people other than card carrying Klansmen listened to him, I was shocked.
Posted by: kathryn at novembre 11, 2005 11:44 PMIn Los Angeles Hugh Hewitt is on from 3 to 6 PM. At 6:06 PM I'm jumping for the radio to switch stations at the first strains of Michael Savage's noisy and disgusting intro music. The main points you make about him are right on.
Find and listen to Hugh Hewitt. His show is tops in my book. Savage is totally without class.
