The boys went to bed listening to "Jazz for Kids", which has Ella, Louis and others singing everything from Old McDonald to the Banana Song. I graduated them out of the "Baby Beluga" phase as fast as I could. . .

Discoshaman,
My playlists on iTunes are all quite eclectic as well, showing -- I like to think -- a certain worldly scope juxtaposed with a refined sense of good taste. So I was with you on your playlist until... well, until the Flock of Seagulls song.
[heavy sigh. long, sad pause]
The french shorts. The manicure reference. And now this. Tennyson may be named for the "Charge of the Light Brigade," but I sense a spirit of metrosexuality that is oppressing you, and, well, frankly I'm unnerved.
Tell me that you're not walking around Kiev as an ex-pat looking like this: www.oz.net/~davester/AFOS/Band/mikethen.JPG

I have that effect on a lot of people. It's a "neither fish nor fowl" type of thing. The lot of all Crunchy Conservatives, I'm afraid. Red state politics/Blue state tastes.

Nope. I only wish I had that much hair left.

Me, I just tucked in a couple of David Sylvian cd's this afternoon; Secrets Of The Beehive and Dead Bees On A Cake. Needless to say, I'm on quite a buzz.
Brian-
That's the exact CD! I just picked it up in the metro for two bucks. While I hope Yushchenko does crack down on corruption, a selfish part of me hopes he saves intellectual property rights for last. :-)
Is Ilya popular in the States? It's hard to know what's specifically European and what's popular on both sides of the Atlantic.
Posted by: Discoshaman at février 6, 2005 01:56 PMSan Ilya (as they are named over here in the states) are not well known, as far as I know. I found out about them because I love Goldfrapp, and looking up info about on the web lead to them.
Goldfrapp isn't quite radio friendly over here, either.
Posted by: Brian Greenwell at février 6, 2005 06:44 PMI still remember the day I walked into a random Connecticut music store, picked The Inevitable at random, put on the headphones, was confronted by "Lovers' Lane," and stopped dead.
Have you listened to any of their solo projects? Samsara has some fun moments but I haven't been able to get into it, for some reason. It doesn't warm my heart the way The Inevitable and Hot do. I haven't heard Katherine Whalen's or Jim Malthus's solo albums yet.
