Happy Reformation Day!

On this day, nearly 500 years ago, Martin Luther posted his 95 Theses. God used one man’s brave action to help launch the greatest revival in the history of Christianity. Good on ya, Martin Luther. Oh, that the Lord would send us more uncompromising men.

With all the "concern" over the celebrating of Haloween I'm glad that someone else remembered the real significance of the day. :-)

And the best part is that he got to break his vows and commit serial adultery soon thereafter!

If only he had been successful in removing the book of James, as he attempted in his September Bible.

Isn't Protestantism grand?!!!

GE-

Good to see you again. A vow made due to the false teachings of a false church is no vow at all. If you think his marriage makes him an adulterer, we can at least take heart that he was with a woman. That's more than we can say for your pink bishops and pederast priests. :-)

And yes, Protestantism IS grand. We're sweeping the Gospel into places the Vatican can barely find on a map. And we're bringing real faith to the syncretistic "Catholics" of Latin America, which is a bit healthier than the diet of Mariolatry, Liberation Theology and paganism that the RC's have yielded there. I believe Bolivia is the first Latin American country to have a Protestant plurality (and an Evangelical president.)

Your church survives on little more than the natural generation of its existing parishioners. We're turning the world upside down with church planting and new converts. Enjoy your majoritarian status while ya can. Such as it is. ;-)

As for the Reformation itself, it was the greatest outpouring of God's Spirit since Pentecost. And your 'church' should be thanking its lucky stars for Luther's challenge -- the Counter-Reformation made it an infinitely healthier institution on many non-theological levels than it had been in a long time.

Rong-

Exactly! I was so tickled when I came into the PCA and learned about this. How much better to celebrate the Reformation than to create some sanitized pseudo-Halloween alternative.
