Good stuff from the Duchess today. First, she's posted her Confessions of a Failed Babywiser in its new Russian translation. Check it out here.
For those not familiar with Babywise, it's marketed by 'Christian' demagogue Gary Ezzo. It's the secularized version of Growing Kids God's Way, which I guess makes it Growing Kids Comte's Way. . .
Also, she turned me on to this:
Follow the herd:
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 23.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your blog along with these instructions.
My nearest book is. . . Literature and the American College -- Irving Babbitt
"I am narrowing down," pursued Harvey; "once I had tremendous visions -- dreamt of holding a half a dozen civilizations in my hand."Posted by Discoshaman at avril 21, 2004 02:46 AM | TrackBack
I guess I need to install a Russian language package in my browser or something, because all I see is a long series of question marks, occasionally broken by a number or a rare English word.
Oh, never mind...I just remembered: I can't read Russian! ;-)
Posted by: Eric at avril 21, 2004 02:54 AMWhile I came to prefer Opera, I'm back with IE. With this browser, you can go to "view," click on "encoding," click on "more," and then Cyrillic (Windows) seems to make most pages with Russian on them come up properly.
I learned this not too long ago from another blogger. Total brain-cramp on who taught this to me, though. *blush*
Posted by: The Duchess at avril 21, 2004 03:06 AMIt displays fine for me, but let me know if there is something I can do on my end to make it more automatic for other readers.
Posted by: Kathy at avril 21, 2004 03:42 AMI don't get why some of the letters are backwards, though.
;-)
Posted by: pentamom at avril 21, 2004 04:28 PMKathy,
I think it should be fine for just about everyone using the link at Ezzo.Info, because it is an .rtf . However, I posted it, too, at tulipgirl.com and that needs special browser settings.
Thanks, btw! *grin*
