After watching both Matrix:Revolutions and Equilibrium in recent weeks, I'm feeling a bit angsty about the future. Not so much for the bleak, soulless existence it seems to hold, as for the fact that Nehru collars will apparently be considered the height of style.
That's not a world I choose to live in.

I remember Roger Ebert once lamenting how nobody today sets futuristic movies in any utopia of any kind. He was sad that no sci-fi movies had the gleaming, optimistic worlds of sci-fi movies of the 60s and 70s. They all are now bleak, post-apocalyptic wilderness.
Ebert even gave the Stallone debacle "Demolition Man" an extra star for having a "nice" future.
